1960s Elliotts of Newbury "Sproxton" Teak Sideboard
This is a rare mid-century modern sideboard designed and produced in the early 1960s by the prestigious British manufacturer Elliotts of Newbury (EoN). This specific model is from their highly sought-after "Sproxton" series, a line heavily influenced by Danish counterparts of the era.
The Design & Illusion
The defining characteristic of the Sproxton model is its asymmetric front layout and its clever trompe l'oeil (optical illusion) engineering.
While the right side appears to be a standard stack of three drawers, it is actually a flat, single sliding door that glides horizontally. The left side features a matching flat bypass sliding door. This unique configuration gives the crisp, geometric aesthetic of drawers on one side, while utilizing a completely flush, space-saving sliding mechanism.
Available as it is with some minor damage to the back (not visible when in place) for £1050.00. Also available for restoration/refinish price upon request.
